Two Individuals Safely Retrieved by Coast Guard
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) successfully rescued two individuals after their vessel encountered difficulties in the San Diego Bay Thursday afternoon, according to reports from Friday.
Emergency Response
Around 4 p.m. Thursday, the Coast Guard’s San Diego Joint Harbor Operations Center received a distress call from two adults aboard a 38-foot boat. They reported that their vessel had struck a shallow area while entering the San Diego Bay, posing a risk of water ingress, as per the USCG.
When the mariners notified authorities that water had begun to fill their boat, both the San Diego Harbor Police and Station San Diego promptly dispatched a response team to the scene.
Safe Retrieval
Despite the challenges faced, no injuries were reported during the incident, as confirmed by the USCG. Crewmembers from the Coast Guard successfully pumped water out of the vessel, mitigating the immediate risk.
Tow to Safety
Following the rescue operation, the distressed vessel was safely towed to Driscoll Boat Works located in Shelter Island for necessary repairs, ensuring its return to seaworthiness.
