Breanna R. Mistler, a 33-year-old woman, has been charged with misdemeanor assault following an incident on a Delta flight from Puerta Vallarta to Seattle. Mistler was arrested at Sea-Tac Airport on May 1 after multiple passengers reported witnessing her abusing a two-year-old child during the flight.

Allegations and Arrest

According to the criminal complaint, Mistler allegedly kicked and shook the child like a rag doll after the toddler woke her up. Despite intervention attempts by other passengers, Mistler reportedly continued her assault on the child. Upon landing at Sea-Tac Airport, customs and border patrol officers observed multiple bruises on the toddler.

Legal Proceedings

Mistler was promptly arrested at the airport and later transported to the Federal Detention Center at SeaTac following her hearing. During the hearing, a judge expressed concern for the safety of the child due to Mistler’s actions being witnessed by numerous passengers during the lengthy flight. Child Protective Services is now involved in arranging for the child’s placement with a relative. It has not been confirmed whether Mistler is the child’s mother. Mistler’s next court appearance is scheduled for a preliminary examination on May 16.

The traveler recounted an experience at the baggage claim where an individual posing as a badged airport employee offered assistance to their family but demanded a $50 fee for the service.
