COLUMBUS, Ohio — Raeshawa Pippen, 20, struck a COTA bus stop with a 2-year-old in the car following a brief police pursuit.

High-Speed Chase and Collision

The incident occurred near Cleveland and 4th Avenues, initiated by Pippen backing into a deputy’s cruiser at a gas station on Cleveland Ave.

Pippen led authorities on a chase down Cleveland Avenue, reaching speeds of up to 90 mph, before crashing into a bus stop and a utility pole. Dash cam and body cam footage captured the event.

Injuries and Charges

Five individuals, including an infant, were in the vehicle during the chase. While the infant was hospitalized as a precaution, the others sustained minor injuries and were also taken to hospitals.

Deputies discovered a firearm inside the vehicle, leading to felony charges against Pippen for fleeing and child endangerment, with additional charges pending.

Law Enforcement Response

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office stated that had the deputy been aware of the child’s presence, the pursuit would not have commenced. Moreover, none of the occupants possessed a valid driver’s license, and the car’s owner was not driving.
